Sunday Morning Kind of Word, I watched a movie called “Play The Flute, 1990”. It’s about a youth pastor who faces an indifferent group of students at church. These students have no desire to know God, but their parents make them attend church. The pastor encourages them to read the Bible and take their faith seriously. Although the pastor dies at a young age, he leaves behind a legacy of love that continues to inspire. After being inspired by the movie, I decided to do something different today. I will read a passage from the Bible (Psalms 19:7-14) to you, hoping to encourage and speak to you personally. Whether you know me well or not, I believe you are part of this blog for a reason, and I know that God doesn’t make mistakes. God’s word is powerful. It can convert us, give us wisdom, change us, and enlighten our hearts. The fear of the Lord isn’t about terror, as God’s perfect love dispels all fear. God’s judgments alone are true and righteous. Keeping His commandments brings a great reward, and He helps us to do it. He also enlightens us when we are in error or when we follow worldly things that only seem right because of cultural influences. Only the Lord can reveal this to us. He helps to focus our hearts and minds on Him, and gives us the right desires, dreams, and vision for our lives. He promises to guide us and order our steps. He provides for us, as He is our Provider, strength, and redeemer. Be blessed. π Penny C.
Psalm 19:7-14New Living Translation
7 The instructions of the Lord are perfect,
reviving the soul.
The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The commandments of the Lord are right,
bringing joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are clear,
giving insight for living.
9 Reverence for the Lord is pure,
lasting forever.
The laws of the Lord are true;
each one is fair.
10 They are more desirable than gold,
even the finest gold.
They are sweeter than honey,
even honey dripping from the comb.
11 They are a warning to your servant,
a great reward for those who obey them.
12 How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?
Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant from deliberate sins!
Donβt let them control me.
Then I will be free of guilt
and innocent of great sin.
14 May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
