Pull yourself out of the despair and disappointment!

I remember something my mom used to say when I found myself in a pit of self-pity, disappointment, or despair. She would warn me against sinking into disappointment and dissatisfaction. Mom was always stern about not allowing myself to go there or stay there.

“Pull yourself out of the despair,” she would insist. “Get out of the isolation you’re in.Encourage yourself in the Lord. Just get out of it!”

I cherished her guidance and her care for me. It is so amazing that I had that gift and it’s something I will always remember.

I will never forget the powerful dream she had while fighting for her life after surgery. She blogged about this recurring dream where she found herself trapped in a prison cell. It symbolized how she felt—imprisoned by her body and the pain she was experiencing. But God knows our pain. Our Lord Jesus Christ is familiar with our sorrows.

Power Verse: “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire;He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” (Psalm 40:2)

In her mind and heart, her dreams reflected her despair. She envisioned herself in a cold, dark, and lonely cell, which mirrored her feelings of being trapped in her physical pain. I want to address those of you who are emotionally bound by despair or disappointment; this message is for you too. Then one evening, my mom said everything changed. She returned to that prison cell in her dream, but suddenly, it felt as though the Lord’s hand reached down and pulled her out of the pit. From that moment on, she knew everything would be okay. It marked a turning point for her. Mom shared that her body began to improve in the recovery process, and little by little, she regained her strength.

Don’t forget that God is our rescuer and the one who lifts us from despair. Call out to Him. REFUSE with all your strength to remain in that slimy pit of unbelief, disappointment, or despair. Don’t waste your life, and don’t allow anguish or disappointment to rob you of your faith. Unbelief is the only thing keeping us imprisoned in hopelessness. You don’t need to have all the answers—just believe in the one who does. Stop looking at what you don’t have and start walking out faith. God will provide.Dealing with Post-Surgery Pain and Physical and Mental Exhaustion | Chat With Dee Dee
