Cynthia, can you start by sharing a little about yourself?
“My life began in a tough place. My school years were difficult, to the point that I had to leave school and earn my GED instead. Not long after, I found myself in a bad relationship that ended in divorce and, for a short time, left me and my children displaced from a home.”
What helped you begin again?
“My first real growth came when I learned to take courage and ask for support. I found employment, secured housing, and began rebuilding life for myself and my kids. That season taught me resilience and the importance of not walking alone.”
How did faith become part of your journey?
“Another turning point was when I put my faith in Christ. I came from a Mormon upbringing, and even after stepping away from that faith tradition, I remained connected for a time because of the physical and financial help they provided. My relationship with Jesus became personal and foundational, something that continues to carry me through.”
Where are you now?
“Today, I am working, supporting my children, and doing everything I can to build a better future. I’m currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree through my employer’s education benefits because I believe education is key to long-term stability for my family.”
What are you facing right now?
“Right now, I’m overwhelmed. One of my children has behavioral and developmental challenges, and the frequent outbursts have created daily chaos that is affecting my mental and emotional health. Additionally, I’m facing a serious financial crisis. I’m behind $500 on car insurance, and my vehicle needs at least $2,000 in engine repairs. The engine light is on, and my inspection is due this month. Without my car, I can’t get to work, school, or take care of my kids.”
What would support mean to you in this season?
“This isn’t easy to ask for. I work hard, I’m trying to do everything right, and I believe in standing on my own feet. But right now, I need help to stay standing. Support would mean stability. It would mean breathing room. It would mean hope.”
